A State-of-the-art modern Cancer Hospital is being built with the generous contribution from people based on estimates of the Bangladesh Cancer Society there are currently more than 12,00,000 cancer patients in Bangladesh. About 200,000 new cancer patients are added each year and 150,000 die from the disease annually.
Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), a voluntary development organization dedicated to humanitarian services, took up the project for establishment of a 500 bed, MULTI - MODALITY CANCER CARE as a CENTER OF EXCELLENCE within the proposed AHSANIA MISSION CANCER and GENERAL HOSPITAL (AMCGH) capable of offering modern cancer treatment and other health services.
DAM has been awarded with a number of National and International Awards for its humanitarian services and contribution towards societal development in Bangladesh, which included the UN ESCAP HRD Award 1994, Asian Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU) Grand Prize 1996, the Bangladesh Independence Award-2002, UNESCO International Literacy Award-2003, AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering Development Project on Environment-2004, ISESCO Prize for Literay-2012, UNESCO Confucius Prize for Literacy -2013 and AGFUND International Prize 2015 (NGO Category) for its pioneering human development project titled, "Technical and Vocational Education & Training".
